What does and does not belong to each family is determined by a taxonomist. Similarly for the question if a particular family should be recognized at all. Often there is no exact agreement, with different taxonomists each taking a different position. There are no hard rules that a taxonomist needs to follow in describing or recognizing a family. Some taxa are accepted almost universally, while others are recognised only rarely.

A. The levels of classification are: kingdom phylum class order family genus species Order is below class and above family. Say these 7 levels over and over until they stick in you head. Try thinking of them as one big long word.

What can I do with a Human Development and Family Studies Major?
Q. So, I have been thinking a lot lately about what I want to do with my life. I am a sophomore in college and am currently majoring in Biology. I do not think this is the right path for me, so I have been looking into other majors that may interest me. I really want to work with children, but I not as a teacher. At my university there is a Human Development and Family Studies major and it interests me, but what kind of career choices will I have once I graduate???

A. Maybe it would be a good idea to ask some of the folks that teach the courses whether it's a marketable degree.

Should minor or double major(languages) with a Biology major?
Q. I am planning on going to medical school and I am undecided of the following choices. 1= Biology Major, Spanish Major 2= Biology Major, Spanish minor, French minor. I am fluent in French and it would be nice to get some grammer classes for that. Otherwise for Spanish I have been taking for 5 years and will spend 6 weeks with a family in Paraguay to improve my spanish. A French minor would make more proficient or professional in French. What looks better for med school and future emplyment? A double major or 1 major and 2 minors?

A. I was told that I couldn't take a foreign language minor paired with a bachelors of science.
