How do I make special shaped chocolates at home?
Q. Im thinking and planning to make some chocolates at home with some special molds I have for a party. I want to know what is the best chocolate to use or a brand you would suggest. I know there are chocolate bars you just melt then pour on the mold but I want to get some advice froms someone who has been successful in a similar project. Thanks!

A. You temper your chocolate or melt your chocolate and put it in a mould that you can find at craft stores. You could also use soap moulds as well. Good Luck.

How do I make a jelly filling for chocolates?
Q. I'm looking for a good recipe for jelly filled chocolates. I've tried a few recipes, but none come out thick enough. I want a recipe that is thick, even somewhat chewy. Kind of like the orange slice candies. Any ideas?
Asked by AngelKerlec - Thu Mar 18 01:45:49 2010 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. This first recipe is an easy to make recipe and makes a gelee but it doesn't actually have fruit in it. The 2nd recipe is made with fruit puree. It makes quite a lot and you might want to cut the recipe in half. Raspberry Jelly Candy Ingredients: 1.75 oz powdered fruit pectin 1 cup sugar 1 cup light corn syrup 3/4 cup water 1 1/2 teaspoons raspberry extract 1/4 teaspoon baking soda red food coloring Directions: Warning: the first half of the recipe needs to be completed the day before you want to eat the candy. Grease a loaf pan. Stir together pectin, water and baking soda in small pan. Cook on high heat. At the same time, bring the sugar and corn syrup to a rolling boil, stirring occasionally. When it reaches boiling, add the pectin… [cont.]

What are some creative ways of selling fundraiser chocolates?
Q. So I need to sell some chocolate to help the wildlife conservation fund. The more chocolates I sell, the more chance I have on going on a camp. I have 3 school days and a weekend to exhaust 40 chocolates. Of course, there are obvious ways of handling this such as... *Walking around school begging people *Selling them to my family *Door knocking *Paying for them myself ...but I feel like this is just not enough. I need a new, creative way of selling them. Any ideas?
Asked by Super Chick - Tue Mar 3 02:59:57 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Don't know where to sell them, but some advice. When people come to our house and say they are selling something for charity (reputable) we will buy from them. When they say "we are selling for charity so we can go to (Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, Florida, etc)" we DON'T buy from them. Real people who care about charity do it to help people, not b/c they get something in return. So don't tell people you are doing it for a camp trip. It makes you seem selfish. (not saying you are by any means, but for people like me, I would give you money just for helping more than helping to get something for yourself)

Buying chocolates and perfume from Dubai Airport duty free shops?
Q. Hi, I have a 6 hour transit time in Dubai Airport. I am planning to buy chocolates and perfumes from the Dubai Airport duty free shops. Is it a good decision and is it cost effective compared to buying them in the US. Thanks.

A. I will try to answer you based on my experience with Dubai, NY, Dallas, Philly, Michigan, LA, etc. Buy the perfumes at Dubai Duty Free Shops. They are cheaper there compared to US. For chocolates, have it purchased in the US. The price is almost the same but the choices are more in the US than in the Duty Free Shop. I would recommend that you purchase the Dates Filled Chocolate at the Dubai Duty Free. They are unique to GCC only and you wont find them in the US. My american friends in Buffalo, New York love it.

A. So move your sales team off your street, and onto another street where there's not so much competition! Try to find a friendly business owner who'll let you set up a table outside his front door. Or stand outside somewhere there's a lot of friendly people ... the post office maybe, or the library. If there's a soccer field in your neighborhood, try selling there while a game's going on. Use your imagination! Try to figure out where you'd run into lots of hungry people!

A. I have purchased some wrap like that at my local SuperCenter Wal-Mart. It's in the section with mailout boxes, envelopes, tape and all things postal for shipping needs and in my Wal-mart, right infront of that, is the candy section. So it's perfect for me to grab candies to mail to my husband over seas and pick up the packages to send it all in. Hope you find what your looking for!
