A display device is an output device for presentation of information for visual, tactile or auditive reception, acquired, stored, or transmitted in various forms. When the input information is supplied as an electrical signal, the display is called electronic display. Electronic displays are available for presentation of visual, tactile and auditive information.

Tactile electronic displays (aka refreshable Braille display) are usually intended for the blind or visually impaired, they use electro-mechanical parts to dynamically update a tactile image (usually of text) so that the image may be felt by the fingers.

Common applications for electronic visual displays are television sets or computer monitors.

How is primary flight and navigation information displayed on the EFIS display unit?
Q. I would like a full description of how information is taken from different system and displayed on the primary flight display and navigational display.

A. In most cases the EFIS would be of a certain protocol (ARINC 429, AFDX, RS-422 etc, or mix thereof ) The data from the instruments to which the EFIS interfaces will be sent on the bus in use in the prescribed format. For example there might be a RS 422 Interface between the EFIS and the NAV data. The NAV equipment will convert its data into to format the EFIS will understand and sent it through the RS-422 bus. The EFIS will collect the navigation data and convert it into graphical display. An analog would be the electronic speedometer display, the electrical output from the wheel is given to the LED inputs of the speedometer. The speedometer's logic converts the voltage into corresponding numerical display.
